...the training and development people
Developing People workshops
Our developing people workshops will help managers to maximise people's potential via development, learning to coach and mentor, appreciating different learning styles and encouraging later evaluation. There are separate workshops to help people learn to train others. Topics include:-
Developing people overview
The vision and values of an organisation are reflected nowhere more strongly than in its people. In addition, almost every organisation spends a considerable amount of its budget on employee related costs. People are a key factor in the success of any organisation.
Clearly, once employed, people need to understand the role, their tasks, goals and how they 'fit' within the organisational culture. They also need to grow and progress, either in the role or via promotion, as this is a key motivational factor and contributes to retention.
Organisations should have processes in place to develop people effectively both in the role to deliver improvement and change, as well as to grow personally to fulfill their own needs.
Training the trainer
This workshop provides a sound background to the complete training process. It includes:-
- how to identify training needs linked to specific organisational or career development goals
- different learning styles
- how to plan, design and prepare a training session
- the need to consider the most appropriate training activities
- how to deliver effective in house training events
- evaluation methods
Coaching and mentoring
The workshops begin by considering the differences in the coaching and mentoring processes and when each should be considered. Each subject is then tackled in some detail, providing opportunities for attendees to plan and then undertake practical sessions.
Mentoring can be very useful where one person is much more experienced or has greater knowledge and this is to be imparted to the other person.
Coaching is a very effective tool for managers who need to get the best from people. Based on a 'GROW' model, the coaching workshop shows how individuals can be coached in order to develop personal strategies and goals that will deliver good outcomes in challenging circumstances. Unlike mentoring, coaching does not involve directly passing on knowledge. The 'GROW' model allows the coach to use questioning techniques to draw out ideas and knowledge from the coachee. Coaching can be used for both individuals and teams.
These topics can be the subject of separate workshops if required.
Effective evaluation of learning and development activities
Many organisations find effective evaluation of learning and development difficult. In this workshop we help managers to consider approaches for both short term evaluation of learning activities and the longer term quantification of impact in relation to improved performance and the achievement of objectives. This workshop can help managers to ensure that they are maximising the benefit of learning activities and reduce money and time spent on ineffective training.
