Employing People workshop
Recruitment and selection
Effective recruitment and retention is important to high performing organisations. The recruitment and selection workshop covers the processes from beginning to end, starting with a review of the position and ending with effective induction. On the way it includes key criteria, workforce planning, designing job descriptions and person specifications, writing and placing of advertisements, short listing from CVs or application letters, considering a range of selection methods, effective interviewing and administration processes that meet current legislation.
Effective recruitment interviewing
Recruitment can be a hit and miss process, particularly in smaller organisations where the placement of an ineffective staff member can have a dramatic impact. After careful selection from CVs and application forms, the main basis for selection is usually an interviewing process. To be effective, job interviews need to fully explore and understand the skills, attitudes and behaviours of candidates. Therefore interviewing needs to be planned to develop the right questions and the questioning technique used must then bring out and explore relevant experience. At the same time, attitudes and behaviours in the workplace must be identified. Only then can the person's approach to the role be predicted. The job interview workshop covers interview planning, preparation, question framing, questioning techniques and how to manage the interview in a timely and effective manner.
