Leadership and management workshops
Quality leadership and management is vital for any organisation. We offer 1:1s or workshops to help managers at all levels to develop techniques to maximise performance. Topics include:-
Transition to management
Moving into their first supervisory or management role is one of the most difficult changes for people to make. This is compounded if the people they are asked to manage are old team colleagues. Organisations do not always recognise the magnitude of this transition, and whilst common sense can get someone a long way, it cannot cover all eventualities. Therefore, it is quite usual for new managers to learn the hard way by making mistakes the first time around. Our transition workshop addresses the issues confronting newly promoted managers, giving them enough theory to understand the background and lots of strategies and practical tips to effectively make the transformation.
Introduction to leadership and management
There is a significant difference between using a directive style of management and leading people using 'softer' skills. Whilst both have their place, using the right style in each situation is a sign of the effective leader. Transferring from directive behaviour, often seen as getting the job done, is key to letting managers step away from working in the business to working on it. In other words it allows them time to plan, develop people and carry out all the longer term strategic tasks required of them. The leadership and management workshop explores the differences between the two complementary styles and provides managers with the tools to become effective leaders, knowing also what strategies to use in given situations.
Team building
The effective team leader will ensure that the team has clear roles, SMART goals, a good decision making process, trust in each other and sound relationships with other teams. In order to achieve this, the leader must develop the team whilst recognising its dynamic and changing nature as the members grow within their roles. Our team building workshop covers the characteristics of teams, the typical individual profiles found and how they can interact. It then goes on to provide a wealth of tools for the leader to use in the development and motivation of both the team and individual members. We can include Belbin team typing and Myers Briggs preferred working styles as an additonal option.
